- Are prophecies sensational and alarmist?
Sensationalism is a type of editorial bias in which events and topics in news stories are over-hyped to increase viewership or readership numbers (wikipedia).
Many refer to prophets, messengers, and websites are sensational because they highlight catastrophic prophecies. The biblical prophecy is just catastrophic. If the sensationalism comes from setting dates to occur soon, it is not Catholic. God will rarely say that something take place in just a year before it happens.
- What is private revelation?
Public revelation or Revelation is binding on all Christians, is the Bible.
"Yet even if Revelation is already complete, it has not been made completely explicit; it remains for Christian faith gradually to grasp its full significance over the course of the centuries."
Catechism of the Catholic Church 66
"Throughout the ages, there have been so-called "private" revelations, some of which have been recognized by the authority of the Church. They do not belong, however, to the deposit of faith. It is not their role to improve or complete Christ's definitive Revelation, but to help live more fully by it in a certain period of history. Guided by the Magisterium of the Church, the sensus fidelium knows how to discern and welcome in these revelations whatever constitutes an authentic call of Christ or his saints to the Church."
Catechism of the Catholic Church 67
Therefore the private revelation help to live and understand the Public revelation, the Bible.
- Why do I need to know about the End Times if I am already a practicing Christian?
Certainly, It is better be a practicing Christian, however, becoming aware on End Times make us more vigilant and fear of sin, and prompt us to evangelize the neighbor, taking hope to all. We will consider that we could have given more from ourselves, when we see the prophecies coming true.
In Medjugorje, Mary tells us to urgent conversion because when the sign comes, it will be too late for many.
- Have there ever been prophecies talking about End Times that did not come true?
It’s necessary to distinguish between the true and false prophecies:
The true old prophecies talked about the signs of what will come. The false old prophecies said that the end times would take place in 1000 or a specific year. At that time, they were alone because there were not many other prophecies predicting the end tmes.
True prophecies nowadays say that we are near the end times and they are not deep in details. However, the false prophecies nowadays inaccurately set an exact date and try to guess every detail.
Try to compare ancient prophecies (La Salette, saints of the church) with today’s prophecies like Vassula Ryden, Mediugorie, Fatima, Padre Gobbi, Pedro Regis (Anguera) and many others. An article, in the section Signs, says particularly that the signs are coming to our generation.
- The earthquakes and natural disasters are God or mankind fault?
From a materialistic point of view, we usually blame only the nature. Believing that nature is controlled by itself is imagine God far away from creation and his creatures. God rules all the mankind history and all nature. If wars happen it is only because the man keep away from God doing their own will and disobeying the God's law like "Love yours neighbors".
Many people doesn't feel how deep the lack of holyness they are living on. God will allow the mankind taste their own poison that they have been poured upon the upright ones. The selfish one and the wicked one have to fear.
